DECLARATION OF THE 9-08 TAIWAN REPUBLIC CAMPAIGN

The 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign is an organization that promotes Taiwan as an independent country, not just pursuing the rights and interests of any single ethnic group, political party, faction and individual. We declare that we shall concert the efforts of all the inhabitants on Taiwan, in particular those who support the cause of the campaign, to achieve the following goals:

1) To awaken the Taiwan people to recognize that the sovereignty of Taiwan had begun to belong to all the inhabitants of Taiwan on September 8, 1951 when Japan, along with 48 member countries of the United Nations, signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty, to renounce, among other things, all right, title and claim to Taiwan and the Pescadores. Technically, Taiwan as an independent nation had begun to take its shape from then on. More specifically, September 8, 1951 can be said to be the independence day of Taiwan, for which we must observe to reaffirm the existence of Taiwan as an independent country since then.

2) To enhance the Taiwan Republic spirit, take off the mantle of the Republic of China, enact the Constitution of the Taiwan Republic, and put into place the Taiwan Republic system.

3) To make Taiwan an environment-friendly, ocean-oriented, science-based and civilized country with refined and capable national defense, reciprocal diplomacy, good faith, respect for financially weaker people, and multicultural diversities.

4) To ensure that the Taiwan Republic shall maintain its democracy, freedom, peace, social justice, social welfare, independent sovereignty, and dignity of its people.

(September 8, 2005)

Message of
Wang Hsien-chi, Chairman of the 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign,
At the Flag-Hoisting Ceremony Held to Mark September 8 As
The Independence Day of the Taiwan Republic

Hello to each and every owner of the Taiwan Republic who are here today at this flag-hoisting ceremony, including Council members Chiu and today¡¦s DJ¡¦s Li-li and Wang Ding-yu; Uncle Shih Ming, co-chairman of the 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign; National Policy Advisors Zhuang Bo-lin, Huang Tian-fu, Yang Chin-chu, and Chang Gui-mu,; Decision-Making Committee Member Wang Li-tz,; Dr. Sheng Jian-te; Legislator Lan Mei-jing; Legislator Hsu Guo-yong; President Chen of the Hsiu-shui Club; President Hsieh of Lee Deng-hui¡¦s Friends Association in Feng-yuan, Taichung; President Lin of the 8000 Volunteers Club in Zhunan, Hsinchu of the 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign; Executive Director of the Hsinchu City Chapter of the Taiwan Solidarity Organization.

I, on behalf of all members and supporters of the 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign, whether here or not today, do hereby declare, with both joy and solemnity at my heart, the official inauguration of the 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign. I firmly believe that you are very excited now, aren¡¦t you?

Historically, Japan, along with other 48 members of the United Nations, signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty on September 8, 1951 to declare the renunciation its title, rights and claims to and in Taiwan and Pescadores. It was from that day on, the sovereignty of Taiwan devolved upon and belongs to the entire people of Taiwan, and the Taiwan Republic began to take its shape.

Specifically, September 8 can be said the memorial independence day of Taiwan and we shall, on September 8 of each year from now on, take physical and concrete actions to throw a flag-hoisting ceremony as a symbol of the physical existence of the Taiwan Republic. To us all, today can be deemed the day on which the people of Taiwan for the first time over the last 400-strong years gather before the Presidential Office Building to raise our own national flag of the Taiwan Republic. This is the very defining moment at which we are marching towards the Taiwan Republic, isn¡¦t it?

Here I take pleasure in giving you a brief account of the significance of this national flag of the Taiwan Republic:

The 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign is an organization that does not just pursue the rights and interests of any single ethnic group, political party, faction or any individual. Rather, we will try to unify all those who support Taiwan as an independent nation to awaken the people of Taiwan to recognize that Taiwan is an independent nation; that Taiwan belongs to each and every inhabitant on Taiwan; and that on September 8, 1951, forty-nine members of the United Nations jointly signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty to expedite the birth of the Taiwan Republic as an independent and sovereign nation. Particularly, the San Francisco Peace Treaty is the birth certificate that witnessed the sovereignty and independence of the Taiwan Republic and September 8 the very independence day of Taiwan, isn¡¦t it?

From now on, let us redouble our efforts to expedite the birth of the Constitution of the Taiwan Republic.

Given the San Francisco Peace Treaty as the birth certificate of the Taiwan Republic and the enactment of the Constitution of the Taiwan Republic, we can proceed to file a formal application with the United Nations to become a member nation of the organization. And by virtue of that membership, the Taiwan Republic will become entitled to be a member of the international community.

To fulfill the above goals, we will, in addition to organizing a Taiwan Candle Night for all mothers of the Taiwan Republic on the Mother¡¦s day of each year, do the following:

1) At the flag-hoisting ceremony to be held on September 8, 2006 to mark the independence day of the Taiwan Republic, we hope to attract ten thousands people to attend a military review in the name of the 9-08 Taiwan Republic Campaign.
2) We hope to gather 100,000 people to flock in front of the Presidential Office Building to take oath to dedicate their efforts in support of the Taiwan Republic as an independent nation at the flag-hoisting ceremony to be held on September 8, 2007.
3) On February 28, 2008, we hope to induce three million people of Taiwan to walk up to the highway around the island to demonstrate their support of the establishment of a constitution that fulfills the needs of the Taiwan Republic, meaning that we will expedite the birth of the Constitution of the Taiwan Republic with our heart, feet and referendum.
4) The person taking oath to be the president of Taiwan on May 20, 2008 will be urged to promulgate the Constitution of the Taiwan Republic while the national flag that flies above the rooftop of the Presidential Office Building will be hoisted down and the new national flag of the Taiwan Republic will be hoisted up immediately thereafter.
5) On September 8, 2008, we will charter 30 airplanes bringing 8,000 young representatives of the Taiwan Republic to tender our application to join the United Nations and other organizations thereof, suggesting that the application, if accepted and approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations, will symbolize the national identity registration of Taiwan as a member of the international community.

We are firmly determined to enable Taiwan to adopt and enforce its own constitution in 2008, thereby terminating the Republic of China and replacing it with the Taiwan Republic that has its national identity and that its citizens have real dignity internationally, aren¡¦t we?

We are firmly determined to build the Taiwan Republic that is an environment-friendly, ocean-oriented, science-based and civilized country with refined and capable national defense, reciprocal diplomacy, good-faith society, respect for financially weaker people, and multicultural diversities, aren¡¦t we?

We are firmly determined to make Taiwan become a normal nation that permanently maintains its democracy, freedom, peace, social justice, social welfare, independent sovereignty, and dignity of its people, aren¡¦t we?

My dear owners of the Taiwan Republic, we are now in a new era to make a new epoch. Let¡¦s get used to being new owners and citizens of the Taiwan Republic by throwing up our right fist and continuously shouting ¡§Taiwan Republic¡¨ for one minute.

Lastly, I wish you happy and prosperous for many, many, many years to come.

Taiwan Republic! Taiwan Republic!
